My New Haircut + Color by Aveda in FourteenJay!

January 04, 2017 0
My New Haircut + Color by Aveda in FourteenJay!
My hair love - Aveda <3 <3 <3

When they offered to send me over to the fancy FourteenJay in Tribeca to get my hair cut and colored (especially when its with Aveda products..) ... how could I say no!?!?

Here is my ... horrendous 'before' pic LOL:
It needed saving - it needed to not look like straw on a hot day being sizzled. It needed to not look heavy as a cow.. lol

I've never had an experience quite like this -- and it was my first time getting my hair colored, so I was uber nervous! When I arrived, it was beautiful and bright. I was greeted by the sweet manager, Michelle, who directed me to my hair colorist.. MASTER colorist David and the beautiful hair cutter and stylist Heather.

Heather offered me a drink (they had tea, water, cappuccino, etc.) I opted for a water, but I took a pic of someone else's cappuccino LOL! And it even came with a cute little cookie! Thought it was such a cute touch.

Anyway.. then David sat down in the seat next to me and wanted to chat! lol. He asked me what I did, and wanted to kinda get to know me. Then he asked about my hair and what I wanted to do. I showed him a picture of basically... my hair. LOL. I told him I just wanted it to be fresher, a bit bouncier since it was feeling dry and heavy.. and since I've never dyed my hair before, that I just wanted a little bit of caramel-y brown colors, but only near the bottom (kinda balayage  -ish?!) because I can't handle if it were to grow out.

Then he and Heather conversed and decided together what we should do .. and off he went to go make my color! Now from that moment to when he was foiling my hair, I really had no clue what he was doing. He teased some bits, moved around some hair, painted it, foiled it. It was all so new to me - so I just let him do his thing.

After the process, I sat and took selfies for about 30 minutes. Then it was time to go wash my hair. David himself washed my hair as another gentleman massaged my hands. David even gave me a moisture masque (which I believe comes with your color service)

Then I was off to get my hair cut. It was so interesting, because Heather had me stand as she cut my hair. It was the first time anyone has ever done that before! However, she was right, she said its not accurate when I cut behind a chair, I want to make sure you get your hair to be the exact length you want! And then as we chatted away, she cut some layers - explaining her process as she went along. Then she introduced me to the thickening tonic which helped to make my hair look fuller and gave me tips on how to use my FAVORITEEEE air control hairspray to help give my crown some volume.

She then curled my hair.. and I literally felt like a new women! I love the way my hair ended up looking -- so healthy, fresh, voluminous and bouncy!!! So many people have complimented my hair and have had to do double takes to say, "wait, was your hair always that color!?" and then I went on a whole shpeal on my awesome experience at fourteenjay lol!

Thank you SO much FourteenJay and Aveda for this amazing experience! I am now obsessed with wanting to color my hair and I'm thankful I have the products to maintain it! Had SUCH a lovely time there chatting, getting to know you all and getting my hair to look alive again! Thanks especially to David, Heather and Michelle of FourteenJay and to Heather and Steph at Aveda! XO

Sleek Eye Dust in Jet Set// FOTD & new hair!

April 13, 2013 0
Sleek Eye Dust in Jet Set// FOTD & new hair!
Hey beauties!
As I've mentioned previously, I've changed my hair colour, I have gone darker & more in the violet family rather than red, and I think now my makeup options have been opened up to something entirely better. Not that it mattered to me before about how my eyeshadow/lipstick/blush colours looked against my hair before, but now certain things look a whole lot different. For instance, this bright blue eyeshadow never stood out this much to me on my eyes before. I have also worn red lips and I <3 it a lot more now!

..Come & find me dancing all alone, to the sound of an enemy's song, I'll be lost until, you find me, fighting on my own...

 ~Products
Face: Base: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation; Physicians Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick; Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles; Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Highlight/ Contour: MAC CCB Pearl; MAC Lightscapade; Nars Laguna
Blush: Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
Eyes: NYX E/S Base in White, Sleek Eye Dust in Jet Set [All over lid, lower lash line]; NYX Chrome E/S in Pearl White [Applied wet to center of lid, highlight]; UD Naked- Naked [Failed to blend out crease lol, didn't want it overly blended anyway]
Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner [top lashline]; Sleek Gel liner [waterline]; Bourjois Kohl & Contour pencil e/l in 72 [to apply gel liner]; Maybelline The Falsies & One By One mascara. NYX Cake Brow Powder in Dark Brown/ Brown.
Lips: MAC Myth, Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart [Myth is a bit... IDK.. stark on me so I like to apply the lighter pink on top to add a bit of colour].
A proper pic of the hair;I had an inch taken off the ends & more of the layers so it sits 100x better now, and feels much more healthier!
So here is a comparison of Sleeks Eye Dust in Jet Set compared to Sugarpill's Darling. Although the lighting is different, and I definitely used a white base under Jet Set and a white shimmer on top, when I'm unsure about Darling, but JS looks way more vibrant & has a foiled effect. So I'm glad I bought it even though they are still similar!

L-R: Sleek, Sugarpill
So of course while I still have heaps of older FOTD's lined up, you probably wont see this hair for a while haha. But I am just so in love I had to post it earlier ;) I hope you like this bright teal eye makeup, one of my fave colours to wear on the eyes for sure!

Would you wear this teal colour?

Edgy Emerald FOTD x2// Bh Cosmetics Day & Night palette

April 08, 2013 0
Edgy Emerald FOTD x2// Bh Cosmetics Day & Night palette
Hey gals <3
Both of these FOTD's are so old it is not funny! The first look is from back when I bought the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald & I wanted to test it out, but I love the whole look together and still wanted to post these.

Look 1
Pretty much just wanted to show off my good hair day :P Didn't do anything to it!
I love wearing light greens with pink cheeks & lips so I kept the hues similar! I know yet again these are spring makeup looks.... that I had probably done last spring, way too long ago. Oh and while I'm lovin my hair in these pictures, yesterday I changed my hair, after having the same colour & style for soo long.

~Products~
Face: The foundation at the time was a whole lotta mixture so there's probably no point mentioning it, but for the rest I used a Dior Bronzer Sample, MAC Lightscapade, Nyx Stick Blush in Tulip, Jordana Blush in Coral Sandy Reef. This combination was quite random as I usually match both the cream & powder blushes to each other.
Eyes: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald, Bh Cosmetics Day & Night palette [pictured, light aqua on lid, green in crease]. Tan colour to blend out crease. Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner
Lips: Revlon Balm Stain in Lovesick

Look 2
This was inspired by Shaaanxo on youtube from a GRWM (Get Ready With Me video) where she did the same colour placement. Excuse that the eyes are not symmetrical, especially with the eyeliner! If you ever feel afraid to rock bright eyeshadow, stick it to the lid or lower lashline only and use neutral colours everywhere else :) My under eye highlight looks way too bright, went a bit crazy with the lilac concealer! Oh and I am enjoying the light waterline with the darker lower lash line, kind of feels a bit more mod to me!

 ~Products~
Face: Same thing about the foundation, Nyx Cream Blush in Glow, Face of Australia blush in Outback Primrose (before I gave it away obviously lol), (same bronzer & highlighter as always)
Eyes: Day & Night palette; Reddish Brown [crease], Dark brown [lower lashline], Same light green as FOTD above [lid], Pixie Epoxy & then random ebay pigment over lid [pictured]. Nyx JEP in Milk [waterline], Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner + NP Set liquid eyeliner.
Lips: Nyx Lipstick in Narcissus, Nyx lipgloss in LaLa
I'm glad I can finally get this post out of my drafts haha, so good to clean that part up! And although once again this type of look is posted in the 'wrong' season, it's nice to be inspired by / inspire others! For those of you in the spring time, I definitely would recommend Edgy Emerald as a lid or lower lashline colour! As you can see I think different shades of pink compliment green nicely.

And I'm sorry for the messy/ jumbled pictures, Nowadays I am trying to keep them more consistent. :)

Thanks for looking xx

Masquerade Makeup: Drama if you dare.

August 20, 2012 0
Masquerade Makeup: Drama if you dare.
A few weekends ago we went to a masquerade ball. Of course I wanted to do big, dramatic makeup for it lol. It was a really good night... when they started playing good music lol. The dress code was meant to be strict but there were quite a few people in short club dresses and people without masks... which is not what a masquerade ball is about! lol. Anyway, apart from that, it was reallly hot in the ball area and because my mask was tucked into my hair it was hard to take it off without my eyes smudging lol.

 Before changing:

 Products:
Australis Paparazzi Perfect fdtn
Coastal scents concealer palette
Nars Orgasm
Nude by Nature Eye Definer- contour
Nyx Chrome White E/S- Highlighter

TFSI
Nyx JEP Black Bean- Cut into crease, outer lid, lower lash line. Cut
Nyx JEP Cottage Cheese- Inner lid, highlighting.
1. Stila Kitten- Inner Lid
Sleek Bad Girl- 2. Gun Metal 3.Underground 4. Noir
5. Blade 6. Innocence
Glitter: MKA Glitter.
 BYS lashes- Starlette

 Lips
Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brule & Nyx Sugarpie L/G

To get the sharp line in the crease firstly I made a rough line with Black Bean and a small eyeliner brush and then I went over it with Noir & an angled eyeliner brush for further definition. I really like how it turned out :)

A few things I'd like to point out:
Eyelashes: One went on weirdly so I had to pull it off and put it back on, removing some of the eyeliner. I  fixed it after the pics.
Also the eyes aren't completely even, but I didn't want to ruin the whole thing to fix that lol. And I wasn't too keen on the lip colour for some reason IDK why... but I didn't reapply anyway lol.

In my dress  (Don't have any full length pics yet!)
Looking creepy in my mask ahah.

Thanks so much for looking, hope you like! xx

Balayage hair + glitzy club makeup!

July 29, 2012 0
Balayage hair + glitzy club makeup!
I'm so sorry guys, I'm apologizing for the lack of posts again! Soo I got my hair done a couple of weeks back.. mainly coz my stupid roots were showing through haha.. I swear my hair grows too fast! This time she did more balayage through all of it, instead of just a few front sections like before. The only thing I will change next time is to probably just do the base colour through the top sections only to break up the lighter ends. It looks good curled, but there's kinda like a line between the colour when it's straight.
Aandd- I hate bleach, my ends feel yucky now & they tangle so easily! My hair is so much more static when I brush it too lol :(

Apologizing for the phone pics!

Lipstick is vivaglam nicki in case you're wondering.

This is the making I wore for clubbing in the city. Mostly phone pics again sorry!
That's better, camera pix :)

Face: Australis Paparazzi Perfect fdtn
MAC dollymix blush
All About Glo Bronzer

Eyes:
Nyx JEP in Black Bean, drawn into crease using small brush, winging out slightly, also on lower lashline.
Noir- Sleek Bad Girl, blended over line, using underground & gunmetal to blend out black. Cut back into the crease with Noir & a sharp-lined brush. Use these on the lower lash line too. I think I also used Urban Decay Tease to blend.
Stila Kitten on the lid
Pixie Epoxy over Kitten, and then the MK&A glitter from my recent haul over the top. I wish I had MAC reflex gold [I think] to compare it too.
Urban Decay Bootycall to highlight
Maybelline Line Allure for the eyeliner.
BYS gel eyeliner.
BYS eyelashes in Starlette

Lips: Inglot #253. I applied it horribly in the car, sorry!

Thoughts on the eyelashes:
These are the ones I also bought in my haul. I really like the whispy-ness & the diamontes on them for added bling, but they were still hard to work with. The band wasn't as flimsy as one I've tried before, but as the glue was drying I couldn't roll it into shape because it went almost straight when I put them on. Also I don't like how you can see the lash band, but it's only noticeable up close.

So, I really should give cut creases a break for a while, but since I've found out that I can actually do them it's a lot of fun to do for a night out!!
I hope you enjoyed this post.

FOTN using my MAC products from my haul

July 12, 2012 0
FOTN using my MAC products from my haul
So of course after purchasing my new products I had to use as many as I could at the same time :P Which was perfect because I bought 1 eye, 1 cheek & 1 lip product from MAC, and I couldn't have cared less if it was complementary or not LOL.
Obviously this is not tonight's FOTN, it's from last week :)

So we went to Adelaide for the weekend, and after a walk in the city and a quick shopping trip we made a booze run and went back to the apartment for some drinks to catch up with a friend we hadn't seen in a few years. And then we went for a night on the town.

~Products~
Face: Australis Paparazzi Perfect Foundation
15 concealer palette
Models Prefer undereye concealer
Cheeks: MAC Dollymix Blush (Hard to see in the pics but I did apply a bit, just didn't want to go overboard IRL)
Highlighter: Models Prefer Illuminator
Contour: Nude by Nature Eye Definer

Eyes:
Nyx Black Bean JEP (creased quite quickly, must have applied a smidge too much, also in waterline)
MAC Contrast E/S (applied with a flat brush on lid, blended out with 217, also on lower lashline)
Sleek Bad Girl: Grays, Black, Blue to darken (LMK if you'd like to know specific names) Also white & skin tone colour for highlighting.
BYS lashes in Gliterazzi

Lips: Viva Glam Nicki L/S

My hair was also a rush 15 minute job  with a 1 1/2 inch curling wand but it didn't turn out too bad!
please ignore that eyelash, makes my eye look wonky up close ahaha.
Just enjoying a drink from our balcony from the 18th floor of our apartments with the city life behind me. HA you can kinda see the lipstick marks all over my glass but look at my lips! Still a heap of lipstick on them (I didn't need to reapply for the good part of the night)

Thanks so much for looking.
I'd also like to point out that I'm on instagram, and I've got a sad amount of followers so add me on missashii_x and I'll follow you back!

What's your fave way to curl your hair, and what do you like to use?

How to get bouncy curls overnight!

May 24, 2012 0
How to get bouncy curls overnight!
There are many ways to get curls with no heat, but this is such a pretty way that you can wear out before taking it out- I left mine in for 24 hours before I did (believe me the elastic headband kept slipping down & driving me crazy, but if the hair was coming out all it took was to kind of roll the hair back under the band).

All I used was an elastic head band and twisted my hair starting from the front & working side to side until all hair is tucked under it. Its hard to visualize like that but there are a few great tutorials on youtube.
I couldn't find the one from lilithedarkmoon   but this is what I did

I used a thinner one for my hair so the curls turned out a bit different to hers but it's pretty much the same result. You can also add mousse to your hair before twisting it.
Sorry for the instagram photo lol- but this is how it looks from behind. Super Pretty!

Its hard to see but this is how it looked up from the side. Although it was the morning after I slept with it in so it as quite messy!

--Take out the band & play with your hair so it sits right--
I have done it again since the first time- and this time I had even better curls but didn't leave it in as long- as long as your hair has dried it's fine to take it out. I didn't want to brush it out either because I knew it would drop. This time the pieces from the front had curled right back- you can sort of see it in the layers near the fringe.

What are your favourite ways to curl your hair without using heat? Let me know! And who are your fave Youtube Gurus for hair?
