Fresh & Peachy | FOTD

August 31, 2013 0
Fresh & Peachy | FOTD
Going through my older FOTD's, I found this summery peachy look that I wore a little while ago. I noticed I had followed through the peachy look with the lips & cheeks onto the eyes with a touch of a warmer colour in the crease, and paired with dewy skin & keeping the lower lash line clean adds to the summery look, which was not my intention haha.
Face | Rimmel Wake Me Up + MAC Strobe Cream for a really dewy look topped off with NARS Laguna Bronzer & MAC Lightscapade to add an extra glow. Colour to the cheeks is achieved with Milani's Baked Blush in Coralina
Eyes | After a primer apply a shimmery skin-toned colour to the lids such as Stila Kitten. Blend lightly into the crease with a fluffy brush so there's no harsh line with a brighter corally-red, such as Makeup Geek's Razzelberry eyeshadow. Make it so you can just see a pop of colour with the eyes open. Line the eyes, I used Maybelline's Line Allure, go as thick or thin as you like & simply use a flesh-toned eyeliner on the waterline, I used the Prestige Brow Highlighting Duo pencil. & finish with mascara. Don't forget the eyebrows!
Lips | Finish the whole look with a peachy toned lip colour such as Sleek Pout Paint in Peachykeen or you could even go a brighter coral if you wish like Maybelline Coral Crush which is not completely opaque for something more carefree.

Do you ever like to carry the same tones throughout your whole makeup look?

MAC Blue Brown Pigment | FOTD

August 15, 2013 0
MAC Blue Brown Pigment | FOTD
Soo this is a really old FOTD that I posted to my Instagram probably a few months back & also in my MAC Samples post to showcase the gorgeous Blue Brown pigment from MAC. It is full of duochromey goodness with a two-in-one colour effect that you can apply & blend, adding more dimension while cutting out on application time.

So this lip colour is probably a bit too muted out, especially as I am not wearing much blush but something like Revlon's Matte lipstick in Smoked Peach may have been more suited to add a bit more colour to the lips.

Face | Rimmel Wake Me Up + Bourjois Healthy Mix, Rimmel Stay Matte, Nars Laguna, MAC Lightscapade, MAC Pink Swoon
Eyes | Too Faced Shadow Insurance, MAC Blue Brown pigment, Urban Decay Naked 1 Naked {blending}, Virgin {Highlight}, Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner, Maybelline The Falsies, Vau Beauty lashes , Nyx Eyebrow Cake Powder
Lips | MAC Myth lipstick

So I've kept it pretty simple this time with only a couple of eyeshadows & nude lips & barely there cheeks... what would you pair this Blue Brown pigment with?

Thanks for looking as always

Stila Counltess Colour Pigment & Turquoise Smudge Stick | Review & FOTD

July 20, 2013 0
Stila Counltess Colour Pigment & Turquoise Smudge Stick | Review & FOTD
The last couple of items I got in my Stila Festival of Colour haul are these two, the Countless Colour Pigment in Lyric & Smudge Stick in Turquoise. They are both limited edition along with the After Glow Lip Colours, and I couldn't resist any of them. Whether you're into understated colours, used as a pop along the lash line or go all out wearing anything you desire all over your eyelids, these two products would be suitable for everyone.

 Countless Colour Pigment in Lyric

This is a bright, summer loving colour pigment where you can either select the shades & apply them separately, mix two different colours for a custom colour, swirl a brush around the pan to create one shade or sweep the brush across the product for a multi-coloured blend.
I choose this one simply because I don't have too many other similar colours and to get me prepared for summer.

Pros
Can create different colour combos
Bright, shimmery colours
Also use as a blush

Cons (but easily fixable)
Sheer, wear off easily with no primer
Need shimmery base for best effect, a bit chalky with a matte white base.
Not recommended to apply wet to get more pigmentation (wouldn't want to risk it!)

Smudge Stick in Turquoise

Stila has also released a pretty turquoise shade into their existing smudge stick or liquid eyeliner lines. I went for the smudge stick so I could use it in my waterline too.

Pros
Very pigmented
Long wearing (not as much in waterline, but lasts a good couple of hours)
Glides on Smoothly
Creamy

Cons
Non retractable! I learned the hard way. (didn't waste too much product, though)
Hard to wind up, but that allows you to use only what you need.

 Swatches

No base, hard to see in natural lighting but as I was writing this they wore off my arm so definitely use a primer!
FOTD

Face | Rimmel Wake Me Up + Stay Matte
MAC CCB in Pearl + Lightscapade
Bourjois Delice de Soleil, Nude by nature eye definer
Stila Countless Colour Pigment in Lyric as a blush
Eyes | MAC Painterly Paintpot, Nyx E/S base in White
Urban Decay Naked [crease]
Inglot 393 Pearl [Highlight]
Stila CCP shades used separately, from orange to hot pink [Lid]
Stila Smudge stick in Turquoise [Lower Lash/ Waterline]
Maybelline Master Precise (ignore how horrible my eyeliner is here!)
Maybelline The Falsies
Lips | MAC Myth, Max Factor Smart Lip gloss

With the Countless Colour Pigments there is a range of colour choices for everyone, whether you prefer earthy tones or neutrals to different arrays of purples or blues & greens,
On Beauty Bay you can choose from 5 different colours but I think there may be a few other ones elsewhere,& are $22.
There are the usual smudge sticks for $20.40 but don't forget that Turquoise is limited edition if you'd like to get your hands on it!

Thanks for looking! What do you think of these products? How would you wear the Countless colour pigment?

Youtube Inspiration #2 | Lilpumpkinpie05 Tropical Paradise Eyes

Youtube Inspiration #2 | Lilpumpkinpie05 Tropical Paradise Eyes
Lilpumpkinpie05 or Jackie O, aka Makeup Game On Point on facebook is an amazing MUA on youtube with an awesome, fun personality  and she makes you feel a part of her tutorials. I've recently mentioned her in another recent look but I wanted to do another one specifically for this series.
She does some amazing makeup looks but I have recently recreated her Tropical Paradise eye look, which is actually my second attempt since my first one just came out as my same old peacock eyes as I forgot exactly what she did so it turned out the same as my others.

Face | I am still using my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation with my Rimmel Stay Matte powder, and I contoured with my Nars Laguna Bronzer & highlighted with MAC's Cream Colour Base in Pearl & MAC Lightscapade. For blush I wore Bourjois 16 Rose blusher over Nyx's Stick blush in Tulip.

Eyes | After priming I used Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in Tenacious Teal all over the lid & along the lower lash line. Over that I used Sugarpill's Loose Pigment in Darling on 3/4 on the eyelid with a damp brush and then I went in with Inglot AMC 68 on the other 1/4 of the lid staying underneath the crease. To define the crease I mixed Inglot's 439 with a darker purple from the Bh Cosmetics Day & Night palette and also applied it on the lower lash line and blended out the crease with a nude & a hot pink from the D&N palette as well. In the inner corner I applied a light green eyeshadow pigment that I bought from eBay & highlighted the brow bone. And then I finally lined my eyes with Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner & a Bourjois Kohl & Contour eye pencil in the waterline, and finished with mascara.
Lips |Nyx lip liner in Mauve, MAC Myth lipstick with Nyx butter gloss in Apple Strudel.

Overall I like how mine turned out but it's obviously not exactly the same, I wish the green was a bit brighter and used a matte purple in the crease with a more defined line that would have been more like hers.

My inspiration!
Anyway I hope you like this look and that you go and have a look at her videos.... No affiliation but I hope y'all go to check out her talent if you haven't already!

Caviar & Bubbles | Review & FOTD

Caviar & Bubbles | Review & FOTD
I hope everybody is doing well! Firstly as Google Reader is closing down in a couple of weeks, I would appreciate it if you were able to follow me through Bloglovin so you can keep updated! It sucks how hard everybody has worked to gain followers to have it taken away! Anyhow, let me know if you have followed & I will make sure I have followed you.

In a previous post I showed one of my newer purchases, the Caviar & Bubbles (AKA Champagne & Caviar) palette from Nyx, so I've been playing around with it in the past couple of weeks and here's what I think of it!

The Palette
Packaging: In a sturdy compact palette with a large mirror, perfect for traveling.
Colours: 5 matte & 5 shimmery neutral eyeshadows which mostly leans towards a cool tone. Most of the light shimmery colours are very similar to each other in the swatches/ pan but come out different on the eyes.
Pigmentation: Fairly pigmented with one swipe but I'd still recommend a base to make the most of the colours. The matte colours can come off a little bit chalky & not as pigmented so a base would prevent that.
Swatches done without base & one swipe
Longevity: I always use a primer anyway so I find these last well on me but I think they would fade easily without one!
Price: $10 from Cherry Culture but prices depend on where you're buying from.

FOTD
Face | Rimmel Wake Me Up & Stay Matte powder, Nars Laguna & MAC Lightscapade, Nyx Angel blush
Eyes | Nyx Caviar & Bubbles palette: Lid: 1 Crease: 2 Blending: 3 Outer V/ Slightly under eyes: 4 Highlight: 5
Sleek Gel liner, Nyx Wonder Pencil, Maybelline One by One mascara
Lips | Sleek Pout Paints in Pinkini & Peachykeen

Overall I really like this palette, but I'm uhmming & ahhing over whether I really need any more neutral colours that I can easily get from my Naked 2 & Day & Night palette, but for the price the quality is pretty good, so I would definitely recommend this.

Have you tried any of the Runway palettes from Nyx before?

First Impressions of The Balm | Blush & Concealer mini review

June 08, 2013 0
First Impressions of The Balm | Blush & Concealer mini review
After so long of hearing about The Balm through the YouTube & Blogging communities I finally have my hands on a couple of their products.... and I am so glad I didn't go overboard with their sale on Ozsale in April because I'm sure I will finally be able to look at the products in person soon.
Ozsale didn't have the hugest range of colours for every product, I think they only had 2 for blushes so I had to decide between Cabana Boy & Down Boy I think it was... I choose Cabana Boy because I didn't think I had anything too similar to it already.
I really like it, and I've worn it a fair few times already because I think it is quite a universal colour, a pretty mauve-pink colour with shimmer.

I've also been wanting to try different concealers, mainly something that I can also use to highlight underneath my eyes. I chose the Time Balm concealer in the colour Light. Unfortunately at the moment it basically matches my foundation colour anyway so there is only a slight highlight but if I get more tanned I'm sure it will stand out more. I also like this concealer for covering pimples & scarring. It has good coverage & I like to use it with my Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush. It is  not essentially creamy so you have to work it into your skin fast before it sets.

This is my FOTD using Cabana Boy as my blush and the Time Balm concealer under my eyes, I hope you can see how good the coverage is. I'm also wearing on the eyes Nyx Caviar & Bubbles palette, Sugarpill's Hysteric under my eyes & Bite Beauty's High Pigment Lip Pencil in Pomegranate.

What products have you tried & like from The Balm? The next thing on my list is the Mary Lou-Manizer because it looks like a stunning highlighter!

Nyx Sale Haul & Swatches

June 03, 2013 0
Nyx Sale Haul & Swatches
When CherryCulture had the 40% Nyx sale last month I wasn't actually going to buy anything from it, but I was watching a haul video from Shaaanxo on YouTube late at night and then I had to go have a look at the sale, the timing was too good. I bought some things I have been wanting to try for ages and also a couple of things that stood out to me so I was excited to finally get my parcel! I knew it wouldn't be long when Laurenbeautyy posted about hers :P

Caviar & Bubbles palette- I have only tried a couple of single eyeshadows from Nyx before so this was my first palette, it has gorgeous wearable neutral colours and reminds me of the Naked 2 palette without the glitter, which makes me sort of regret getting this palette.
Blush in Angel- I have a couple of blushes & love them & I have wanted Angel for ages, it is a light peachy pink colour perfect for adding an extra glow to the skin so it is shimmery without being glittery.
Wonder Pencil in Light- This is meant to be a multi-purpose product as an eye brightener for the waterline or underneath the eyebrow, as a lip liner or even as a concealer. I've been wanting a nude eyeliner anyway & wanted to see how it would go for everything else.
As If concealer stick in Lilac- I've ran out of my one from my concealer palette and I wanted one for travel so I thought I've give this one a go and so far I like it.

Matte Lipstick in Angel- I didn't even think about this in the same name as the blush haha but I haven't tried any of the matte lipsticks but so far I haven't found it drying but it doesn't seem to last too long and the bullet is quite loose in the tube so it feels like it's falling down as I'm applying it. It is a pinky-red colour that can come of as a coral.
Lipgloss in Beige- This is a colour I've been interested for ages especially after hearing about it more & more in the YouTube world and it is a gorgeous light pink colour that goes with basically anything. I think I will be taking this with me!
Xtreme Lip Cream in Pinky Nude- Firstly I wouldn't call it a nude as it is quite a dark pink and I've only tried this out once but the formula feels good for my first Xtreme Lip Cream but I wish I chose a different colour because it is similar to Angel (on the lips anyway).
Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel- I had put this elsewhere to my other products when I was taking these pics and then remembered it after so I had to add it in separately and it is obviously not to scale haha.. I haven't tried this properly yet but it is a gorgeous light peachy colour with a sheer-medium coverage and is non-sticky.
L-R: Angel, Beige, Pinky Nude, Apple Strudel
FOTD wearing Caviar & Bubbles palette on eyes, Angel blush, Angel lipstick & Beige lipgloss.
So that's all I bought from the sale, I thought it was a good amount and I was glad I didn't go too overboard, I think it ended up being around $40 with shipping so I felt it was good for 8 items.

Let me know Did you order from the Nyx sale? Have you tried any of these products before?
xx

Oh and I have been pretty good with cutting down my spending, I had only had a couple of other things arrive and that's it until I need to buy the essentials just before I go away!!

Bite Beauty Cosmetics// Lip Products Review & Swatches

May 23, 2013 0
Bite Beauty Cosmetics// Lip Products Review & Swatches
Bite Beauty is a brand that is featured fairly frequently on Ozsale, and while I was on my "spending ban", which is now a lot more stricter since it is a bit more closer to my big holiday, I saw it on there and thought I would try something from a new brand.

Description from their website-
"Bite Beauty is an all-natural lip care company operating out of downtown Toronto. Our mission is to create lipstick that is high performance and healthy enough to eat for women everywhere."
Bite Beauty is entirely focused on lip products, with their Luminous Cream Lipstick, High Pigment Pencils, Cinnamon Lip Oil, Pastille Matte Crèmes, Lush Lip Tints & more, so I would imagine they would be focused on creating high quality products.

The two products I bought were the Luminous Creme lipstick in the colour Rhone & a High Pigment Pencil in Pomegranate. They have a high end feel with the rubber-textured packaging reminiscent of NARS. The High Pigment Pencil especially reminds me of the Velvet lip pencils, although I haven't tried or seen them in person.
I've used these a couple of times as you can see the bullets aren't as precise as they would have been.
Luminous Creme Lipstick
"These unbelievably smooth lipsticks deliver lush, long-lasting colour and moisture-rich coverage in an incredibly inviting palette of 13 alluring shades ranging from modern nudes to provocative plums. Organic fruit butters create a creamy texture that conditions and nourishes lips with every use, while antioxidant-rich Resveratrol fights free radicals and helps reduce the appearance of lines. Each lipstick contains the amount of resveratrol found in five glasses of red wine. Bite Beauty create their products with food grade ingredients for beauty that’s better for you. They are free from parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals or phthalates."
Borrowed from Kleinsperfumery

You would be able to see from these two lip products that I have been in the mood for red/ burgundy lips recently. This is, as the name suggests a very creamy & pigmented lip colour that applies very smoothly & is fairly long lasting.
Their signature B is carved into the bullet and the end of the packaging has a curved lipstick-wand shape, making it look different & interesting compared to other brands as well as the gray rubber. The only way to know the colour from the outside from the label on the bottom.
Rhone is a darker wine colour, and typically I had to have something almost identical to it, Kate by Rimmel in 09 as you will see in comparison swatches. Looking back at the different colours, I'd love to try a vibrant purple!
FOTD with UD Naked 1 eyes, Nyx Peach blush & Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Rhone
 High Pigment Pencil in Pomegranate
This pencil is basically a lipstick but in a wind-able pencil form with the colour shown at the end of the stick so you can see easily which colour you've picked up.
The colour looks like a brighter red in the tube but turns out to be very blue based on the lips, it is a lot more similar to Rhone than what I thought it would be, but not as glossy.
In the lip swatch below I have applied it over the top of lip balm that I really should have blotted before. I found that it lasted well until I had something to eat, and then it disappeared almost immediately, leaving only a little bit of a stain behind. Obviously if you take the right steps such as blotting lip balm beforehand, lining with a pencil and then using a lip brush (the head is small but not defined enough for a precise lip line), and even setting lightly with a powder, it should last bit more decently.
Eyes from UD Naked 1 palette, cheeks are L.A Girl Nectar, Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil Pomegranate
 Comparisons
As I mentioned above, almost every time I order something online, when I get it I know I have a similar colour straight away.
L-R: Kate by Rimmel in 09,Bite Beauty Rhone, Bite Beauty Pomegranate, Maybelline Are You Red-Dy, Nyx Amsterdam
Kate 09 is slightly darker but a very similar colour to Rhone, Are You Red-Dy has more orange tones and Amsterdam has a similar blue tone to Pomegranate.

Both the Luminious Creme Lipstick & High Pigment Pencil's retail for AU$36.95 online from Kleinsperfumery, The Iconic & also from Sephora(and instore) if you are in the US for US$24 but I bought mine on sale for $21 so if you are a lip junkie wanting to try a new brand I'd recommend to wait until a sale pops up.

Overall these lip products are pretty good but not a necessity to have in your collection, but if you want to try a different brand the Bite Beauty range has different types of lip products that may suit you.

No Affiliation with any of the websites mentioned, except for an invitation link to Ozsale. All products bought with my own money & are my own opinion.
